Window Film Excellence

  • Use reflective window film for heat reduction or privacy
Silver 20

Reflective film is made by coating polyester with one or more metals.

Reflective film has excellent heat reduction properties and is often used to provide daytime privacy. It is also sometimes used to create a One Way Mirror. A true one way mirror effect is achieved using a combination of lighting and glass properties, therefore an onsite consultation is recommended.

Unlike a dark film which absorbs heat and makes the glass hot, reflective film is more effective and puts less thermal stress on the glass.

Different metals are used in coating to achieve a variety of performance results, the most common being aluminium, which gives a silver appearance. This results in a reasonably light film with great heat reduction.

The metal coatings can be applied by vapour coating or sputter coating. Sputter coating is slower and more expensive but provides superior control in the metallisation so that the metal is completely even across the film which is not always the case with vapour coating. All Solar Gard metallized films are sputter coated and may use Aluminium, Titanium, Copper, Stainless Steel, Nickel, Silver and proprietary alloys including these metals as well as Chromium & Gold.
