Window Film Excellence

What do I need to move?

  • If curtains need to be removed it is best to take them down the evening before installation to allow any dust to settle. Most curtains can stay in place or be draped over a dining chair to keep them out of the way.
  • We will normally include removing and replacing blinds in our quoted price but if you wish to do this yourself please ask.
  • We are happy to remove and replace small furniture items and nick knacks to minimise disruption to you.
  • If we are going to work over your office desk you will probably want to tidy it up first because with large work stations it is better to work ON them rather than try to move them and we do spray water.
  • Working around large furniture items like beds and entertainment units may require a team lift or some planning so we should discuss these.

Do you need to clean first?

  • It is a good idea to run a vacuum cleaner nozzle across the bottom edge or window track if it hasn't been done recently.
  • The film is applied to the inside.
  • We will clean the glass so you don't need to.
  • However if your windows are particularly dirty, for example after construction work, excess dirt can make our tools dirty and make it hard to do a good job.
  • No matter how clean your windows are we will always clean them again.

What about pets?Pets

  • We have found that pets, especially rabbits, are keen window tinters but show little aptitude.
  • In particular, long haired pets leave permanent relics under the film and should be kept away.

Other tips

  • External doors should be kept closed as a surprising variety of bugs can end up between the film and glass.
  • Minimising air movement can reduce airborne dust, i.e. fans off.
  • If you have had any spontaneous window breakage (maybe you thought it was a stone) we need to know. See Glass Stress for more info.
  • It is advisable to have a quick window inspection together before installation begins.
  • If you have any questions please ask.
