For those who would like to know a little more about what we do.
- Window film is normally applied to the inside.
- There are specialized films for external application.
- We thoroughly clean the window surface and frame before application.
- We clean mechanically and do not use any chemicals other than soap.
- Towels are used to catch excess water.
- To aid us in removing the film backing we often hang the film on an adjacent window using water.
- The film is applied wet to the glass. The water is removed with a special squeegee.
- We will cut your film on site and fit it individually to each window pane.
- In many cases the film ought not contact the frame and a gap of approximately 1mm is left around the perimeter. This will vary depending on the film type and frame type. For example with some timber frames or putty sealants a 1mm gap will result in excess particles trapped under the film edge and so a larger space of 2 or occasionally 3mm is required. Some window frames permit the edge of the film to be hidden.
- An approved silicone can be used to cover the film gap. Ask for this option if preferred.
- If patterns and cut-outs are required they are cut after the film is applied.
The film will start to adhere after 1-30 minutes depending on the glass temperature and film type.
Most films will take 2 to 7 days to fully dry.
Some Low-E films and security films can take up to 8 weeks to dry in cold weather.
- We have successfully applied over 25,000m2 of window film.
